Getting involved

There are lots of opportunities to participate in bowling during the season (April to Sept):

  • There is a coaching session each Monday from 1000 to1200hrs.
  • There is an informal club night featuring friendly games from c.1700 to 1930hrs on Wednesdays from May to August.
  • A range of Club trophy competitions take place throughout the season (see below and fixtures).
  • At any other time when there are no scheduled games, there is the opportunity for an informal practice session and/or a friendly game (a “roll-up”)

Club Competitions

The main Club Competitions are listed below, To enter any of these competitions:

  • You must be a member of the club and have paid your subscription by 1st May for the current year.
  • Return the the appropriate completed entry form (see below) together with the relevant fees to the Competion Secretary by 6th May (?).
  • Be available to play on finals day on 17th August 2027 (?)

Club Competition Rules | 2026 Finals

Ladies‘ Championship

  • A singles competition for the lady members.
  • The draw shall be made on a completely random basis.
  • The winner shall be the first player to reach 21 shots.
  • Four bowls each player.

Ladies’ Handicap Singles

  • An open singles competition for ladies.
  • The draw shall be made on a completely random basis.
  • The winner shall be the first player to reach 21 shots.
  • Four bowls each player.

Ladies’ ‘Novice’ Singles (Primus Cup)

  • An open singles competition for ladies. who have not won a singles competition at
    the club (or any previous club), but also excludes any player who has represented a
    Club A Team on more than 6 occasions or reached a County or County Section
    final (whether in singles, pairs, triples or rinks), or has been awarded a County
    badge. (Members who may have previously won a pairs or triples competition within the Club will be eligible, subject to the previous requirement).
  • The draw shall be made on a completely random basis.
  • The winner shall be the first player to reach 21 shots.
  • Four bowls each player

Ladies’ Two Wood Singles

  • An open singles competition for ladies.
  • The draw shall be made on a completely random basis.
  • The match will be played over 21 ends. If the match is tied then an extra end is to
    be played to determine the winner.
  • Two bowls each player.

Ladies’ Pairs

  • Prior to the draw the Competitions Secretary will place players into two equal
    groups representing (group A) and the remaining players (group B). Pairs will then
    be drawn at random one from each group. This pair will fill the first place in the draw
    sheet. Further pairs shall be drawn and placed in the draw sheet in the same way.
    Who plays skip and lead shall be determined by the pair.
  • Players in each pairing may change positions of play (lead or skip) from round to
    round but not within a match.
  • The game consists of 18 ends except for the final which shall be 21 ends. If the
    match is tied then an extra end is to be played to determine the winner.

Ladies’ Jubilee

  •  An open singles competition for ladies.
  • The draw shall be made on a completely random basis.
  • The winner shall be the first player to achieve a score of 21.
  • Three bowls each player.

Men’s Championship

  • A singles competition for men.
  • The draw shall be made on a completely random basis.
  • The winner shall be the first player to reach 21 shots.
  • Four bowls each player.

Men’s Handicap Singles

  • An open singles competition for men.
  • The draw shall be made on a completely random basis.
  • The winner shall be the first player to reach 21 shots.
  • Four bowls each player.

  •  Prior to the draw the Competitions Secretary will place both men and ladies players
    into equal two groups each representing (group A) and the remaining players
    (group B). Four groups overall.
  • Pairs will then be drawn at random one from Men group A and Ladies group B. The
    next pair will then be drawn at random one from Men group B and Ladies group A.
    Further pairs shall be drawn in the same way. The draw sheet shall then be filled at
    random using the drawn pairs. Who plays skip and lead shall be determined by the
    pair.
  • Players in each pairing may change positions of play (lead or skip) from round to
    round but not within a match.
  • The game consists of 18 ends except for the final which shall be 21 ends. If the
    match is tied then an extra end is to be played to determine the winner.

Stockton Mixed Singles – Three Wood

  • A mixed singles competition open to all members.
  • The draw shall be made on a completely random basis.
  • The winner shall be the first player to achieve a score of 21.
  • Three bowls each player.

 Ladies’ and Men’s Points Cup

Each Section shall award a Points Cup to their member who has accrued the highest
points tarrif from the qualifying competitions. These shall be allocated as follows:

  • Winner Club Championship 3 points
  • Runner-Up Club Championship 2 points
  • Losing Semi-Finalists Club Championship 1 point
  • Winner Handicap Competition 3 points
  • Runner-Up Handicap Competition 2 points
  • Losing Semi-Finalists Handicap Competition 1 point
  • Winner 2-Wood Competition 3 points
  • Runner-Up 2-Wood Competition 2 points
  • Losing Semi-Finalists 2-Wood Competition 1 point

In the event of a tie, the Cup shall be shared
