The Men’s A team enjoyed a successful evening last night in the final match of the Mid Devon League – and it was certainly well into the darkness when the final game finished! We understand the result means that the Men’s team has been promoted to Division 1, which is an excellent outcome following some good matches throughout the season.
We are fortunate to have depth in the squad, including many members who have joined in the current season and last year, who are challenging for a place on the team. This is an exciting prospect for the future of the Club.
It was particularly kind of so many of our Club members, both men and women, to turn out to support those playing. It was really appreciated and highlights the close camaraderie throughout the Club. With Torquay also bringing a cohort of supporters, thanks to Jean and Sue and those others who helped make tea for so many.
The Captain of Torquay B thanked our Club for the hospitality they always receive, and to our players for the sportsmanship and friendship shown across both of the matches against their team in the past 10 days. It was a kind gesture, and one that reflects the essence of our Club.
The Men’s Captain, Edwin, and current Vice Captain, Richard, echo these sentiments and I have been asked me to extend thanks to all members for a rewarding season.
